Structural Design
The form that protects, communicates, and moves you.
Structural packaging design gives physical form to the product: its volume, its material, its mechanics, and its opening experience. It is the part of the package that is touched, and the part that turns a product into an experience consistent with the brand, from the shelf to the consumer's hand.

From volume to mechanics
Structural design determines the shape, material, and behavior of the packaging, always in service of the brand and production.
Shape and volume
The silhouette that makes the product recognizable on the shelf.
Material
The choice that balances impact, cost, and sustainability.
Structure and mechanics
The system that supports, protects, and functions.
Unboxing experience
The gesture that turns the packaging into a brand moment.
Prototyping
Mockups and tests to validate before producing.
Productive optimization
A viable design in the industry, without losing ambition.
The packaging is seen on the shelf and remembered in the hand.
Structural design versus graphic design
The shape and the material
Solve the volume, mechanics, and physical experience of the container. This is packaging engineering at the service of the brand.
The surface and the message
Resolve the color, typography, and communication on the packaging. It is the visual voice of the product.
Both form a single project: the structure gives it a body, the graphics give it a voice. At Baud we approach it as packaging agency, with the structure and graph in a single system.
From silhouette to mold
A new package starts by measuring the category: what silhouettes occupy the shelf, what formats logistics dictate, and what margin the industry allows. On that map, we draw volumes, turn them into mockups, and test them in the hand before committing to a mold. The shape, when it works, makes the product recognizable even without a label.
Category
Silhouettes, formats, and shelf codes where it will compete.
Volume
Exploration of shapes and proportions, with the brand as the criterion.
Prototype
Models and material tests, opening and resistance.
Industrialization
Adjustment with the manufacturer: mold, tolerances, and packaging line.

rPET. We designed the AUARA bottle using 100% recycled plastic and gave it a unique silhouette that stands out from all the others on the shelf. It is our prime example of structural design: a shape that stems from the project’s social purpose and makes it tangible in the consumer’s hand.

On structural packaging design
What differentiates structural design from graphic design?
Structural design resolves the shape, material, and mechanics of the packaging; graphic design resolves the communication on its surface. They are worked on together in the packaging project.
Does it include prototypes?
Yes. We manufacture scale models and prototypes to validate shape, material, and opening experience before production.
Do you take production and sustainability into account?
Yes. The design is optimized for the industry and prioritizes responsible materials and solutions without sacrificing impact.
Do you work with glass in addition to plastic and cardboard?
Yes. We develop packaging in glass, plastic, cardboard, and combined materials, and we work with manufacturers in the sector to adjust each mold to your production line.
