Meeting Gonzalo Gasset, Business Development at Baud

Interviews with Baud members

Interviewee: Gonzalo Gasset, Business Development.
Interview date: June 19, 2020.

We continue with the new content framework in which we can get to know a little better the members of our team, those who build Baud. Gonzalo is a person driven by adventure, whether physical or mental, looking for new challenges every day. Honest and loyal, if he can help you, he'll be happy to. He has a taste for design and aesthetics as a personal hobby, but has grown professionally within the commercial branch of different sectors. Honest, communicative and practical, always trying to find the best solution to the client's needs.

Why did you choose branding as a profession?

I love design in all its aspects, and I consider that participating from scratch in the creation and implementation of a brand, is a super enriching activity that also allows me to always be up to date in terms of trends, products, services...

What is the best thing about your job?

Being involved in so many different projects. Talking today about the future of catering in Madrid, next week about micromobility solutions for the city of Barcelona, or a niche premium product next month...

And the worst part?

When a client does not open up to me, it is much more difficult for me to detect any needs he may have.

What is the project or brand you have been involved in that you are most proud of? Why?

A new instant messaging brand that is about to launch. It was my first project at Baud, but I also think it's an app that has a long way to go.

Which brand/s would you like to work for? Why?

Patagonia, Ternua, Ecoalf... I feel very much in line with the philosophy of brands that want us to enjoy the world while taking care of the planet.

What do you get out of working at Baud?

Knowledge of different branches, contacts, and several smiles every day thanks to having one of the best work teams I have ever seen in my life.

For you, what are the best qualities that a professional in your area should have?

Communicative, honesty, agility, active listening...

How do you see the future of your profession a few years from now? What changes do you think may arise?

I think that as much as technology is breaking into more and more areas and sectors, business relationships are based on dialogues between people, ''tug-of-war'' and handshakes, and for now machines are not able to do it as well as people... heh heh heh heh! So I think that within this field, the profession is not going to change much in the short-medium term.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your profession?

He must have a lot of references! He/she should be an avid reader, watch movies and series, advertisements, design books... but above all, he/she should be an observant person.

In a nutshell...

  • A benchmark: Steve Jobs.
  • A confessable hobby: always set the volume of the car radio to an even number.
  • A book you would recommend: The Magic of John U. Bacon.
  • Your ideal music to work with: anything that keeps me awake... From classic Rock & Roll to Acid Jazz or House.
  • A phrase that is your mantra: Sab Kuch Milega which in Hindi means ''everything is possible''.
  • A plan to disconnect: NATURE always.
  • Something surprising about you: I consider myself very versatile and chameleon-like. From sewing socks, to sharpening knives...
